Back in 2012, Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis received the prestigious Logistics Award. Fourteen years later, the award goes once again to the Geis Group—this time to the next generation: Jochen Geis and Hans-Wolfgang Geis. This is a special moment for the entrepreneurial family and, at the same time, a tribute to the path Geis has taken across generations.

In doing so, the company adheres to a clear mission: to find the best solutions for customers, consistently capitalize on opportunities, and ensure the company’s long-term success.

Growth with strategic vision

In recent years, Jochen and Hans-Wolfgang Geis have combined this mission with a clear growth strategy, expanding the international network and developing the company’s service portfolio through targeted acquisitions.

A milestone was the acquisition of Quehenberger Logistics. This was the largest acquisition in Geis's history to date, strengthening the group's international presence, particularly in Austria and Eastern Europe.

The subsequent acquisitions of Gras Group, Spedition Krüger and Agotrans in particular strengthened the freight forwarding division, as well as the company’s position within IDS, Germany’s largest general cargo network. Last week, Geis continued on this course with the acquisition of Krage & Gerloff.

Growth requires people

For Geis, growth alone is not an end in itself. Alongside its expansion, the company is making targeted investments in its appeal as an employer and in fostering a strong leadership culture. After all, every development is driven by people who take responsibility, find solutions, and support customers every day.

For Jochen and Hans-Wolfgang Geis, one thing is clear: the LEO Award recognises the entire team. 'Behind this award are many people who work with great dedication every day to make our ideas and strategies a reality,' said the two award recipients.

That is why our thanks go above all to our employees. Without their dedication, the progress of the past few years would not have been possible.

Like father, like son

When Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis received the LEO Award in 2012, the jury recognised their successful entrepreneurial achievements and the transformation of the family business into an internationally active logistics service provider.

This year's award builds on this development, symbolising both continuity and change. Jochen Geis and Hans-Wolfgang Geis uphold the family’s values and entrepreneurial spirit, setting their own course through strategic expansion, growth of the international network and investment in the company's future.

About the LEO Award

LEO stands for Logistics Excellence Optimisation. The DVZ (Deutsche Verkehrs-Zeitung) uses this award to honour outstanding achievements by individuals in the logistics industry across five categories. Readers of the trade journal propose nominees for these categories. The final selection is made by a high-calibre jury. On 11 September, the DVZ presented the LEO Award for the 19th time in Hamburg.
