Marco Weißensel, Geis Global Logistics' Managing Director and a former THWS graduate himself, congratulated the award winners in person:
'Not only did you excel in your studies, you also demonstrated how to approach complex issues with curiosity and an innovative mindset,' said Weißensel.
He was particularly impressed by how clearly the theses addressed current challenges in logistics, ranging from digitalisation and sustainability to global supply chains.
With your knowledge, commitment and motivation, you will make not only the logistics industry, but also our society, a better place.
Alongside Lisa Kießner, the Geis Group's team leader for recruitment and human resources development, Weißensel presented the awards for the best theses in the Logistics and International Logistics programmes for the winter semester of 2024/25. Other representatives from the university and the city were also present at the event to celebrate the graduates, including Mayor Sebastian Remelé and THWS President Prof. Dr. Jean Meyer.

She impressed with her practical research on performance evaluation in a growing market segment, achieving an impressive grade point average of 1.98.
2nd place: Renat Ibragimov
‘Development of sustainable IT-supported logistics planning, including simulation, for the automotive industry’.
This paper offers a technical outlook with a focus on data-driven efficiency in highly complex industrial environments.
3rd place: Abilene Mascarenhas
‘Assessment of the environmental impacts of electric vehicle batteries lifecycle’
Drawing attention to environmental responsibility in the supply chain.
All three winners received a certificate and prize money of €750, €500 and €250 respectively. The first-place winner was also awarded a glass cube with the Geis logo in special recognition of their achievement.
Through its logistics sponsorship award, the Geis Group highlights its long-term dedication to nurturing young talent. Its close cooperation with THWS extends far beyond the award ceremony. Geis regularly supports practical projects, offers internships to students, and sponsors a seminar room at the university.
