Geis focuses on climate-friendly transport

Sustainability, Road Services, 20. August 2024

The sustainability goal is clearly defined: The Geis Group wants to become climate-neutral by 2040. On this Mission Zero, the logistics service provider is increasingly focusing on alternative drives and climate-friendly fuels. The current highlight is the biogenic fuel HVO100, and Geis has secured around three million litres of this sustainable diesel substitute. Geis customers can also benefit from this.

HVO100 stands for ‘Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil’, is obtained from residual and waste materials such as used cooking oil and wood residues and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent. The fuel has been approved in Germany since April – diesel trucks can be refuelled directly with HVO100 without any technical modifications.

Thanks to an innovative insetting model, Geis customers can make their transports climate-neutral. This certified digital process makes it possible to precisely calculate the CO2 impact for each individual consignment. Jörg Rotthowe, Managing Director Road Germany of the Geis Group: ”There is enormous interest, especially among our major customers, in significantly reducing the carbon footprint of their transports by using climate-friendly fuel.”
