Geis takes over Krüger sites in Göttingen

Press, Corporate, Road Services, Press releases, 17. December 2024

We are systematically continuing our growth course: On April 1, 2025, we will take over the two locations of the Krüger forwarding company in Göttingen. This will strengthen our network in central Germany – a perfect complement to our recent acquisition in western Germany.

As of April 1, all employee contracts, customer contracts and the other assets of the two locations are to be transferred to our group of companies. The locations will then operate under the name Geis Krüger Internationale Spedition GmbH. The subsidiary GSL (Gesellschaft für Service und Logistik in Mitteldeutschland mbH) in Apolda, Thuringia, is excluded from this transaction.

Continuity and new perspectives

With the handover of the locations in Göttingen, managing partner Andreas Krüger has created the perfect conditions for the future of his family business, which was founded in 1929: “We have grown strongly in Göttingen in recent years. With the handover to the Geis Group, we are successfully integrated into an internationally active, very strong and also family-run group of companies.”

Andreas Krüger is retiring from the forwarding company with the transaction. Marco Butter, Managing Director at Krüger since 2017, will continue to manage the two locations together with our Geis management.

With the Krüger locations in Göttingen, we are taking on additional consignment volumes, supplementing our network in central Germany and further expanding our role in the IDS network.

As a member of Germany’s largest groupage cooperation, we will bring the Göttingen site into the IDS system in January 2026, replacing the DSV site in Baunatal. The DSV site in Baunatal will become vacant on 31 December 2025.

“We are delighted to be able to fill the first part of a DSV site so quickly,” says IDS Managing Director Dr Michael Bargl. “The Geis Group already serves eleven areas in the IDS network. I am sure that Geis and its well-established team will also deliver the usual high quality at the new location in Göttingen.”

We are looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues in Göttingen and to welcoming them into the big Geis family.

We want to continue to grow at the Göttingen site as well. That's why not only will all jobs be retained, but new ones will also be created in the future.

Hans-Wolfgang Geis, Managing Partner
