Geis Group: new management of the Logistics Services division

Logistics Services, Press releases, 11. January 2024

The internationally active Geis Group reorganised its management in the Logistics Services division at the turn of the year. Erik Lassen has been at the helm since 1 January 2024. The 54-year-old is responsible for all of the Geis Group's contract logistics activities in Germany. He takes over the position from Dr Johannes Söllner, who has officially retired but will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity. Erik Lassen will be supported by Patrick Mense and Marco Weißensel, who have both been appointed Operational Managing Directors for Logistics in Germany.

Erik Lassen has been at home in the logistics industry for more than 27 years. The new Chairman of the Management Board for Logistics Germany has been Managing Director of Geis Industrie-Service GmbH, in which the Group bundles its contract logistics activities, since 2007. In various roles, he has familiarised himself with almost all facets of contract logistics – from business development to operational management. "We are delighted that Erik Lassen, an extremely experienced manager from our own organisation, is taking over the baton," explains Jochen Geis, Managing Partner.

Management of Logistics Services broadened

In addition, Patrick Mense and Marco Weißensel were appointed Operative Managing Directors at the turn of the year. Both have already been appointed to the Executive Board as of 1 April 2023 and share responsibility for the logistics locations in the Logistics Services division.

Patrick Mense just joined the Geis Group last year. He has over 25 years of experience in logistics management and has previously held various management positions – most recently as a member of the management team at Loxxess AG. At the Geis Group's Logistics Services, the 50-year-old is now responsible for one of the two operations areas with logistics projects in Germany, Hungary, and Luxembourg as well as the areas of Business Development & Solution Design and Implementation.

Marco Weißensel is responsible for the second operations area with logistics locations throughout Germany. The 46-year-old has already been working for the Geis Group for 20 years in various management positions – including as head of several logistics locations and as Key Account Manager. Most recently, as Divisional Logistics Manager, he was responsible for the projects in the Erlangen/Forchheim, Schweinfurt/Gochsheim/Schwebheim and Bad Neustadt regions.

"With our new management team and a very healthy mix of experienced Geis managers and a breath of fresh air from outside, we are ideally positioned for the future," emphasises Hans-Wolfgang Geis, Managing Partner. "Many years of experience, coupled with a high level of expertise and in-depth knowledge of our business, are ideal prerequisites for our Logistics Services division to continue its successful growth."

Dr Johannes Söllner enters well-deserved retirement

Dr Johannes Söllner, former Managing Director of Geis Industrie-Service GmbH, is leaving a large footprint in the company with his retirement. Since 2000, he has played a key role in building up the Geis Group's contract logistics activities and has had a lasting influence on them. "Dr Söllner had a strong network in the logistics world, always represented the Geis Group excellently in associations and committees and made the name of our company known in the industry," says Hans-Wolfgang Geis.

Dr Söllner was also a member of the management team at the parent company Geis Holding. "We would like to thank Dr Söllner for his tireless commitment and look back on his achievements for our company with the greatest respect," emphasises Jochen Geis, adding: "We are all the more pleased that he will continue to accompany us in the future and support us in word and deed."
